From the late Jac Tilton comes a Mississippi-themed combination. The original, matted watercolor is 15 x 12 inches and depicts the Mississippi backwaters in winter. The 14-inch, double-stitched canvas bag depicts the iconic O'Leary's fishing barge near the Dubuque Lock & Dam. Jac Tilton was a lifelong creative and beloved art educator in Galana, where he started his career. Although Jac left teaching in the 1980s, he continued to encourage and take the time to help and guide aspiring artists. This legacy will live on through the Jac Tilton Student Gallery at the Galena Center for the Arts. Artist Statement: Many of my watercolors result from my attraction to old or out-of-the-way places and subjects. I'm attracted to these subjects not from a sense of nostalgia but because of the effect that the process of existence imparts to them. The results of their use, abuse, neglect, or abandonment make for very interesting subject matter. Items can be collected after you check out, after the live auction. If you are not attending the Gala, you may pick up your items at The Galena Center for the Arts.

A note from Galena Center for the Arts: Welcome to our 3rd Annual Galena Center for the Arts Fundraising Gala. Our Gala is "Embrace the Experience," which is reflected in many of our auction items. Our online and in-person auction is raising money to support our arts programming, fund building upkeep, and keep the Center running. All auction proceeds will be directed to support these needs and fund the Center's operations. THANK YOU to all of our generous donors who have given auction items and have sponsored this event, and THANK YOU for joining our auction and bidding generously! We wish you good luck with your bids!
